With most schools out for the summer and children now having loads of free time, parents may be wondering how they can juggle their busy work schedule, while still keeping their kids occupied and having fun.
For your younger ones, it can be something as simple as reading books or getting involved with a sports program. With older children, a part-time job or volunteering are always great options.
Here are a few tips to consider:
- Create a friendly reading competition by letting them check out books at your local library…the child with the most books read in 30 days will receive an award for “Best Reader.”
- Enroll your kids in a summer sports program to provide a safe environment for them to meet new friends and stay active.
- If they are in high school, consider helping them find a part-time summer job for some extra cash and a great learning experience, such as babysitting or waiting tables.
- Help them find volunteering opportunities in your community, whether it’s at a local library or animal shelter. This will not only help them learn life lessons, but gives them an early start in building up their resume.
